Fractures : Fractures must be immobilized, there is no other way around it. First thing to do is see a podiatrist, orthopedist, urgent care or er and get an x-ray. You want to make sure there is no break affecting the joint that could lead to arthritis in the joint. An x-ray will also ensure that the toe is in proper alignment. The doctor should then put you in a below-knee walking boot. You will wear that at all times when weightbearing for a minimum of three weeks and possibly up to five or six depending on how the healing proceeds. I also usually have my patients wear a night splint while in bed to protect the fracture. Best of luck!
