Dr. : Dr. Timmerman has given you a great answer. If you want to whiten your teeth, you should use products that are designed to do just that. There are otc strips, as well as in office procedures.

Peroxide : Peroxide is a caustic solution to soft tissues...Don't believe me stick you finger tip in the solution for a few seconds and watch it turn white. Stop using peroxide on open wounds or in your mouth. As stated above baking soda and salt can be very abrasive to the enamel of the teeth and you will get the opposite effect you are looking for after the enamel is worn away. Talk with your dentist for a recommendation of what to use to whiten your teeth. After looking at your dental health and the condition of your teeth he will make an appropriate recommendation.

I : I would recommend not to whiten your teeth in this manner. While cheap, the abrasiveness will vary widely and do more damage than help. Most of the home methods cause a lot of collateral damage, and pseudo experts like "dr" oz empower people to simply destroy their teeth. They tend to suggest products that are much too acidic that whiten teeth by stripping off the outer layer of enamel. We often see people come in with the white enamel thinned off and the yellow dentin shining through. At this point, there is no way to whiten teeth and options like porcelain veneers are the only way to make the teeth the desired shade of white. A diet high in strawberries, or routinely rinsing your mouth with peroxide each day, will help keep your teeth white, but to truly whiten your teeth, seek the help of a dentist. Even otc products like the crest white strips are better than coming up with a "home brew" to whiten your teeth.

Varies: The product that whitens your teeth is peroxide. The greater the concentration of peroxide and longer the duration the product is bound to your teeth, the more whiter your teeth will become.
