It : It may be that it is not actually the muscle that is being compressed and that remains indented after your press on it. It may be that this is the soft tissue outside the muscle (skin, subcutaneous tissue and even fat tissue). These tissues may be engorged with fluid, which we may call edema. If this is happening on both legs, then it would be more likely that some process involving your whole body is the cause.These issues could include plasma fluid leaking from the blood vessels due to low body protein or could simply represent fluid retention. Circulatory conditions like chronic heart failure may also cause such edema. If the swelling is only in one limb, this is less likely to be the case and is more likely related to some injury in that limb. Consider seeing yor physican to check this out. Good luck!
