An : An injection of any sort in most parts of your body can result in a "bruise", a small amount of internal bleeding at the injection site. It will usually go away without any problems. I don't know what dental procedure was performed on you, but the swelling could have been from the procedure or from the injection. I did not understand your question: are you still swollen over 2 weeks later, or 2 weeks later they told you that you were allergic to the anesthetic? Either way, to answer your initial inquiry, yes, an injection can leave a small, transient bruise.

Any : Any injection irregardless of medication administered can cause a bruise due bleeding from a vessel or other tissue like muscle. This bruise typically abates after one week. The abrasion could have been caused by the suction, but you may also have caused the injury while you were numb without realizing it. You did not list any specific symptoms that would make me believe that you were allergic to the septocaine.

Bruising : Bruising can occur after any injection, but in this case it really sounds like nothing more than a bruise and not an allergic reaction. Bruising can occur in anyone during the injection process even when all care has been taken to avoid it. Usually the bruise will fade within a week to 10 days. As far as the abrasion, this could have been any number of things from the suction unit to possibly biting your tissue while numb. Let your dentist know that these things concerned you and if you otherwise have confidence in him, continue treatment. If this occurs again or you feel as though you are not being treated in a manner that makes you comfortable seek treatment elsewhere.
