I : I recommend washing the area thoroughly with mild soap and water. Once clean and dry, apply a topical antibiotic ointment. Keep the site clean, dry and with adequate antibiotic ointment applied to cover the area. You might consider over the counter Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help with the itching. If the area shows no improvement in 4 to 5 days consult your physician. This contact allergy due the active ingredient p-phenylenediamine. You : You likely have experienced an allergic reaction to the p-phenylenediamine that is present in the dye. You should clean the area with a mild soap (do not scrub) and apply an over-the-counter Hydrocortisone cream at least 2-4 times a day. If the condition does not improve considerably (with decreased itching/burning/crusting) over the next 24 hours, i suggest that you seek medical attention.
