Methicyllin : Methicyllin resistant staphylococcus aureus - a strain of bacteria, typically found on the skin, that has undergone an internal change that makes it resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics (pennicillin, methicyllin, nafcillin). Very difficult to treat and thus are more dangerous. As with any bacterial infection it can be transmitted to other individuals by direct contact, indirect contact (touching a contaminated surface) , or through an airborne route. Disfigurement comes from the bacteria causing an infection that leads to necrosis of the tissues (muscles, fat, skin).
