Walking & bicycle: I find it best to coax a child into finding an activity they like and bribing them if needed to give it a three wk trial. Something they can do with friends or with you like walking & cycling come to mind. Tennis leasons may open their eyes to a new activity, soccer ior hockey are also good if available. Getting the heart rate up for 30 min/day is the target. This + a healthy diet should help.

Group activites: Its always more fun to exercise in a group and with friends. Pick up games of basketball and frisbee are often enjoyed by kids. Riding bikes around the neighborhood or swimming at your local pool are also ideas. Try to find some way to be active as a family every day.
