This : This is a good question. Sculptra is a biostimulant in which the product stimulates the production of collagen. If too much product is in one area you can develop a dense production of collagen and have a resulting bump. By massaging after injection this decreases the likelihood of having this unwanted result. It : It helps to disperse the distribution of the product thereby diffusing it through the tissues producing a more homogenous result with the belief that it will produce less lumpiness.

Spreads product: The manufacturer has recommended massaging of treated areas after sculptra injection to reduce the risks of lumps and bumps. Theoretically, this should help to disperse and pockets of the product that might result in a lump/bump. Most doctor recommend the 5/5/5 rule: five minutes, five times daily for 5 days.

Massage Sculptra: Sculptra can cause lump formation and massage can distribute the material more uniformly decreasing the likelihood of getting too much sculptra in one place.
