How does an alcohol habit turn into a disease?

Addictive properties: Alcohol has addictive properties and even one drink can be habit forming in susceptible individuals. If you think you may have a problem ask yourself a few question- has anyone asked you to cut down on drinking? Have you been annoyed by people asking about your drinking? Have you ever felt guilty about drinking? Have you ever needed a drink in the morning? If you answered yes, please seek help.

Damaging addiction : Current discussion whether 'disease' is best label. Any escalating habit that limits one's ability to be & do their best, consumes their energy, time, emotions & destroys relationships can be considered an addiction, which currently is included in the category 'disease'. A combination of genetic, familial, environmental, & personal factors can lead to the change of a habit into an addiction.
