Causes liver disease: Alcohol is one of the top causes of liver disease.

It's one cause of it: Liver damage is rarely seen with 1-2 drinks per day (14/week), and goes up significantly with higher amounts. There are genetic predispositions to alcohol-induced cirrhosis, and people with hepatitis c are far more sensitive to alcohol, and should not drink at all. Alcohol damages far more than the liver, and again people differ in their sensitivities to these damages. Talk to md if concerned.
