Redirection is best : Your average two year old will not really learn from time outs, etc. Your best bet it to redirect them from an undesirable activity to another-- for example, if they are trying to climb the stairs, offer them a toy or move them to another part of the house.

Time Out: Redirection is fine, but does not carry over. Babies do learn from time outs if we are consistant, firm and repeat the time out each time the behavior is attempted. It takes about 2-3 weeks and the 2 year old will learn to avoid the time out by not doing the wrong thing.

Yes: It is best to focus on teaching , 2 yos for the 1st time have a mind of their own , so avoid power struggles. Make clear any expectations, focus on the positive, whatever we pay attention to becomes more frequent -don't give any energy to bad behavior. If u tell your kid to so something once as you find u are telling them to do it again I honestly recc u b doing it with them help them do it right
