Supervise: Teach your child not to climb on furniture or cabinets. Do not place furniture (on which children may climb) near windows or on balconies. Install window guards on windows above the first floor (unless this is against your local fire codes.) use stair gates or lock doors to dangerous areas like the basement.

Childproof home: Do not assume the child is smart enough to be aware of a dangerous situation. You must protect them from themselves. Falls, burns, choking, poisoning, drowning and car accidents are the most common dangers. Take all precautions possible including gates on stairs, plugs in outlets, locks on cabinets with medications or poisons, lowering home water temperatures car seats and safety gating pools.
