Are there good ways of providing discipline at home without using physical force?

Yes: Time in and time out. Time in is positively reinforcing good behavior- making a sticker chart by giving your child a sticker everytime they complete a task you asked for and time out for immediately showing them a consequence for inappropriate behavior (such as biting). Start time outs at about 2 yrs old and the length in min can equal the age of the child in years.

Yes: Studies have shown that physical force is not effective for discipline and can lead to a violent child. You should use consistent and reliable time-outs to discipline your child.
