There : There are various conditions that can cause ovarian problems. Ovarian cysts are the most common. Ovarian cysts occur with ovulation (release of an egg by the ovary). This occurs every month, but occasionally the cysts can get larger and fluid-filled, causing pain. They can "pop", releasing the fluid, which is quite painful. This can be treated with advil (ibuprofen) and rest. If the pain is severe, and the cysts keep re-occuring, sometimes patients need oral contraceptives (birth control pills) in order to regulate the hormones and decrease cyst formation.
