Your : Your OB will check for some thyroid levels (typically a tsh, free T4 and free t3). This will let him/her know whether or not to change your synthroid (levothyroxine) dose. Don't worry about "hurrying" up. It takes a good few weeks to regulate your thryroid dose.

I : I would take your medication. Thyroid disease in pregnancy is concerning. 5 is not terribly high but is not ideal for pregnancy. It is safe to take the medication. Your OB will probably check your levels regularly in pregnancy as well. Good luck!
