What age should children start to floss their own teeth? my son is five, and i'm not sure when i should start letting him floss on his own.

Flossing : Flossing should be supervised by a parent at that age. I suggest you do it first and then let him do it after you. Consider using a floss holder if he is not able to get the floss through his teeth by himself.

If : If the teeth are in contact with adjacent ones, flossing is indicated. Baby teeth usually have plenty of spacing. Consult your pediatric dentist for a more specific answer.

Age 9-10: Eye-hand coordination to properly floss take until about 9-10 to develop. Make sure child brushes 2x/day for 2 full minutes by the clock w a pea-sized portion of toothpaste.
