Usually not allergy: Blepharitis is inflammation or infection typically at the edge of the eyelid (margin) or base of eyelashes. The bacterial (or parasitic) byproducts are what can create an irritation to the lid skin or eye itself which feels like allergy (itching). Contact dermatitis is what is seen with cosmetic allergy, and is usually more like a rash around the eye. The lid skin is very sensitive.
