I : I believe that you have been told this because theoretically Fluoride (a component in hydrofluoric acid) has the potential to chemically etch glass ceramic materials. I have never seen this but would be even more cautious with abrasive toothpastes that can scratch the surface of porcelain veneers. I recommend a gel (translucent) toothpaste as opposed to an opaque toothpaste that has an abrasive in it. If you can see light through the toothpaste then it probably is non-abrasive. Also look for those marked "safe for dental work".

No.: We highly recommend Fluoride toothpastes, even with veneers.

Depends: Neutal fluorides are okay, however acidulated florides are not. The acid in acidulated Fluoride can etch porcelain, and thus make the porcelain veneer more susceptible to staining.

False!: You absolutely should use fluorides with porcelain veneers. You invested a lot of money into them, fluorides help protect that investment. There is one particular type of Fluoride in dental offices that is frequently recommended not to be used around porcelain called apf, but 'neutral sodium fluoride' or 'naf' can and should be used to protect your teeth from decay!

You need fluoride!: No matter what you have in your mouth, you should brush with a fluoridated toothpaste with ada approval, having xylitol helps , too.
