Metanx : Metanx should not cause you to get worse but in my view it is expensive and of very minimal benefit. Metanx has not been shown to be better than a combination of b vitamins. There are far more effective lower cost medications for pain from diabetic neuropathy. Imipramine, gabapentin, cymbalta, and Lyrica (pregabalin) are the main ones. I find that most (about 95%) people get substantial relief with low dose Imipramine taken at bedtime. It costs pennies. Daniel weiss md cde facp pns cpi.

Metanx: This is a food supplement to help replace vitamin B types. If you take too much of it, you can cause neuropathy by vitamin B6 intoxication. If you are deficiency in vit B12, you may find your symptoms are worse as the nerves start to heal. It would probably not help someone with neuropathy due to diabetes mellitus.
