Is it safe to eat nitrates while pregnant?

If you have to ask -: Nitrates - typically found in higher concentration in some drinking water and in cured meat products such as hot dogs and sausage - and not to be confused with nitro-related medications - are a health risk. And so definitely not recommended in pregnancy. Eat a wide variety of foods while pregnant including lots of fruits and vegetables - and keep on eating that way even when you're not pregnant!

Not really: The evidence seems to indicate that you should minimize your intake of nitrates, which are salts used to preserve some meats and other foods, whether you are pregnant or not.
