A : A facelift isn't as good at removing wrinkles from the face as it is at lifting sagging skin. Depending on your anatomy a skin resurfacing procedure may be indicated to help with wrinkles. Some people beneft from having both resurfacing and a facelift.

A : A well planned and performed facelift will support sagging tissues, including the skin and underlying fat/muscle. By lifting the facial skin as opposed to pulling it up, the face is smoothed out; however, the deeper lines although appearing smoother and softer may not disappear. Consider the leather couch that has stretched out hide. The lines remain in the leather but do not appear as deep.. Likewise, the skin after facial surgery is repositioned but may still require additional procedures to ameliorate the lines. Loss of volume in the mid-face will require structural lift with fat grafting or radiesse (dermal fillers). Complementary procedures such as skin care and laser, where appropriate, will make a big difference.

No: A facelift repositions skin. Wrinkle are creases and folds in the skin. After a facelift, sagging skin is better supported, but wrinkles remain. Other procedures, like skin resurfacing with a chemical peel or laser or injectable fillers like Restylane (dermal fillers) or juvederm can be combined with a facelift to improve wrinkles.

No: Facelifts tighten skin and reduce laxity in the neck and jawline. The fine lines (wrinkles) usually require laser treatment.

Should help: Facelift smooths fine, moderate and deep wrinkles of the cheek, jawline, and neck as well as tightening lax skin.

Good question.: A facelift removes excess skin and tightens the layers underneath the skin (smas). Facelifts don't usually help out with fine wrinkles, these are better treated using laser resurfacing/botox/chemical peels.

Facelift and wrinkle: A facelift does not remove wrinkles, per se. However, by repositioning sagging tissues and removing excess skin, the skin can look smoother.
