Hello : Hello 16 year old male. I seriously hope that at your age, you don't want to impregnate your girlfriend. Let's start with some basic information about the epididymis and about epididymitis. The majority of cases of epididymitis in men under 40 (you) are caused by sexually transmitted diseases. The epididymis carries sperm from the testicle to a tube called the vas deferens. Organisms travel backwards through the urethra to eventually reach the epidididymis. If the epididiymis becomes occluded it blocks sperm from leaving the testicles. A chronic infection could lead to significant scarring which could result in having ejaculate which contain no sperm. In your situation, there is only involvement of the right epididymis. The left side should not be impacted. However, if the epidiymis remains patent, sperm can usually still make their way through. Chalmydia is the most common std that causes epididymitis. I think you should think twice about remaining sexually active at age 16. Careless actions as a teenager may stay with you a lifetime. If you do elect to continue having sex, for goodness sake, use barrier protection.
