If : If a patient has leg pain and swelling, then doctors are always worried about blood clots (thrombosis). Pain, swelling, chest pain, or shortness of breath usually indicate the need for an ultrasound to rule out clot. Contacting your doctor would be the safest thing to do in that situation. Other possibilities include infection or arthritic-type conditions.
