Hello. : Hello. You are asking about indentifying stage 1 lyme disease. First, lyme disease is a bacterial illness caused by a spirochete called borrelia burgdorferi. Deer ticks transmit this bacteria. Within one to four weeks, early infection can present with a rash where the tick was attached. It is circular and sometimes looks like a bull’s eye target. It is red and enlarges with time. Be aware however, that some people have no noticeable symptoms of lyme disease initially. If there is a rash it may or may not be associated with more generalized symptoms like poor energy level; fevers; chills;headache; stiff neck; enlarged lymph nodes or musculoskeletal pain.

Wouldn't worry much: If these were infected ticks, they need to feed on him for about a day before the germ is passed.Giving him a good look over was the best thing you could do and removing them soon after the trip did the most to limit problems. Call your doc and find out if this is a problem in your region,if so s/he can guide you in any other things to do.
