This : This could be a chalazion or stopped up oil gland in the eyelid. Try warm soaking washclot 4 times a day for about 5-10 minutes at a time. If not doing better of the next day or two---see an ophthalmologist.

Tenderness : Tenderness and redness can be an early sign of a chalazion or stye. However, the possibility of an early skin infection needs to be ruled out. So, i recommend you see your local eye doctor to treat this early presentation!

Touching : Touching your eyes is never a good idea as your dirty hands can cause infection. For soreness, you may want to consider warm or cold compresses. Artificial tears may also help. If the pain does not get better within a day or two, i suggest that you see an ophthalmologist.
