Blepharitis/dry eyes: Your symptoms sound like eyelid inflammation called blepharitis. Often accompanied by tear instability which makes the eyes feel sandy, sore and blurry. The eyelids are more predisposed to sore bumps called stys. Moderately hot compresses, lid massages with baby shampoo, artificial tears, fish/flaxseed oil in diet, & occasionally combo antibiotic/steroid eye ointment to eyelids can cantol symptoms.

Blepharitis: I see you posted several questions about lid darkness, irritated eyes, etc. Lid margin disease can exacerbate dry eye and cause redness of both the lids and eyes. Also causes crusting. Try warm compresses for 5 - 10 minutes followed by lid scrub pad such as occusoft or similar brand. I recommend you see an ophthalmologist for further evaluation as you may need additional diagnosis and treatment.
