A member asked:

Sore gums due to dentures? i've had dentures for about a year now, but recently have been experiencing constant mild gum pain on both my upper and lower jaw. is this likely due to something being wrong with my dentures, or them no longer fitting right?

Changes in gums: Your gums and bone may have changed allowing the denture to press extra on certain spots. These are called denture sore spots and the dentures may need adjusting by the dentist.

Denture sores: Gums sores after 1yr can mean several things1.Your tissues need a rest. Keep the dentures out for 4 hours very day.2. Your bite is too tall for your mouth: needs to be adjusted.3. Your denture has a germ in the plastic: called candida needs cleaning 4.You have persistent pressure points; needs adjustment. There are more. But see a dds/dmd for and evaluation.
