If : If the reason that you are getting porcelain veeneers is purely to improve the shade of your teeth or remove any stains or defects in the enamel, and if the tooth is properly reduced, then the porcelain veneers should feel just like your own teeth. However, if the veneers are required to change the size or contours of the teeth, or to close spaces, repair chips, or straighten crooked teeth, it is quite normal for you to notice a difference in the feel of your teeth. In most cases this just lasts a short time, perhaps just a few day or weeks at most, and then your body usually accommodates to the changes and it eventually feels normal.

Your : Your teeth are very sensitive to any change. Something very minor will feel major. However, your mouth will quickly accommodate to this change. Typically, after a few days this will feel like the new norm. On occasion, you may need minor adjustments to your bite.

Yes : Yes your teeth will feel different and it is hard to tell how long it will take to adjust, but most people do adjust very well to the change. Within a few days, you will probably adjust. It is very important to discuss this with your dentist and ask to see photos of previous work. Best of luck.

Yes, : Yes, there will be some adjustment as you get used to the veneers, especially if you are making a significant change to the size, or shape of the teeth with the veneers. However, one reason we use porcelain to make veneers is because they are smooth like your natural teeth. I have two veneers, myself. I would say it took me a couple of weeks to get used to them. After i got used to the new shape of these two teeth, I do not feel any difference but i love the results!

To a degree...: Depending on individual sensitivities, porcelain veneers may feel different. At times a dentist may make them noticeably thicker than the natural tooth was. Some dentists may not have the junction fittting as tightly or as smoothly; this junction between the tooth and the veneer may be noticeable by some patients. However, this feeling of something different does not necessarily mean discomfort.

See answer: As both a cosmetic dentist, and as a patient with porcelain veneers, i can tell you that veneers, like any dental work, feel a bit different for a few days to weeks. I never think about them anymore and they feel just like my regular teeth! i love them and will never regret getting them!

In the beginning: At first, your mouth will adjust to what is different, but after a while, most people say their veneers feel just like their natural teeth used to.
