There : There are several viruses that have been identified that produce sores in the mouth accompanied with fever & malaise & are usually self limiting, healing within 2 weeks, with the virus. It may take longer for the mouth sores to heal because they get secondarily infected due to the normal bacteria that live in the mouth.. When these sores do accompany other bodily lesions & symptoms, it is best to visit the doctor, not the dentist. This what you did & you see improvement, but the lesions in the mouth have not healed yet. Give them 2 weeks, if you do not see improvement revisit the E.R.
