Risk factors:: African americans, asians, hispanics, those with a family history, those with diabetes during past pregnancy, and obese individuals. There are other risk factors too. Get your glucose checked yearly, stop smoking, exercise 20 mins a day or more, avoid over eating, get plenty of sleep, find ways to limit stress, and eat a healthy diet. Things things can help prevent diabetes. Best regards.
