Probably gastritis: Alcohol can cause widespread irritation/inflammation of the stomach lining (hemorrhagic gastritis) which can result in throwing up blood. However, bleeding from peptic ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, or from esophagitis or esophageal varices (varicose veins in the gullet) can also cause bleeding. This bleeding may be life-threatening and needs urgent medical attention. Alcohol cessation is key.
