911 : 911 might be prudent. She could have esohageal varices, a peptic ulcer, gastritis, esophagitis - who knows. My concern is that from the way she sounds right now, she may have had a sigificant blood loss. Something like this happened to one of my patient's a little over a year ago. He told his kids not to call an ambulance, when they finally did call, he had died from vomiting blood by the time that rescue arrived.

Yes, : Yes, i agree this is not a time to wonder why but to assure safety that only comes from proper medical attention. This situation, as already been stated can represent an acute life threatening situation and please then get assertive about getting proper medical care for the alcohol dependence as well.
