Hi, : Hi, this isn't dr. Oz. You don't note how much red wine. A moderate amount of red wine and 50mg of diphehydramine should not kill you. However, this is not a good cocktail for sleep. Over the counter sleep aids that contain antihistamines can eventually lead to rebound insomnia. Alcohol is the number one cause for insomnia in this country. Over time, it can cause problems with sleep. Try going to bed at the same time each night. Use the bedroom only for sex or sleep (no tv, radio or other distractions). It is best to have a very quiet and dark bedroom. Avoid caffeine in the evening. Avoid large evening meals or late dinners. Limit exercise to late afternoon or earlier. Avoid napping. Limit alcohol use (or don't drink). Try to encorporate a calming routine at night (like taking a warm bath with lavender). Consider drinking warm milk or camomile tea at bedtime. Melatonin can be very helpful for sleep. Medical acupuncture can be used in the treatmet of arthritis, anxiety and pain. It is effective, safe and there are no medication interactions. It is not covered by all insurance plans however. Take care.
