Give it more time: In general, I advise patients to abstain from alcohol when they are being treated for depression or anxiety. Since you are just starting Sertraline, my best medical advice is to hold off on drinking any alcohol until you know how you are going to respond to the new medication. In other words, don't muddy the waters. Talk to your doctor about treatment recommendations and risk for drug-alcohol use.
