I was born without a sense of smell and people have always told me i could regain it. but how can i regain somthing i never had? i have allergies but my nose is usually open to let air flow through. i still have my 4 other senses and they all work perfect

Excellent : Excellent question. I think you are right, if you never had the sense of smell you will likely not get it. It may be due to other problems (allergies, sinusitis, nasal polyps, viral damage to the olfactory nerve). Are there any other associated symptoms? Some of those problems can be treated and get you the sense of smell
