Muscle : Muscle cramping can be caused by dehydration, problems with electrolytes such as sodium or potassium, or hyperventilation (breathing too quickly). A patient with muscle cramping should hydrate well, supplement drinking water with sports drinks, and rest. If the cramps were persistent or the patient had other symptoms then their physician should be notified.
