First, : First, try to get a second opinion either through tricare, or request that tricare cover a second opinion for you. Hopefully you can establish closely with a good primary care doctor (family practice or internal medicine), as well as a gynecologist, so that you can get your health care under control. Write a detailed letter explaining your medical concerns both to tricare and to give your new doctors so that they will understand your concerns.

Because : Because you are tricare prime you are eligible for treatment at military treatment facilities (mtf). Is the hospital you are having difficulty with an MTF or a civilian facility? Madigan army medical center provides care in the fort lewis area and I have been advised that they have excellent / extensive ob/gyn services. Normally, the treating provider would need to determine that there was medical necessity for a procedure before it is approved. Even, if you desire a hysterectomy; normally the medical team would need to deem it medically indicated because all surgeries have a risk to benefit ratio. What the patient wants and what the provider believes is medically indicated are not always the same thing. If you are being treated at an MTF and you believe that your case is being managed inappropriately, recommend that you request to speak with their patient contact representative. If you are being treated at a network facility, you can request to be evaluated at an mtf. At most mtf's, second opinions can be arranged within the same department either through departmental review or a formal second opinion.
