I : I am very much in agreement with dr. Mcleod and dr. Edderai. In tradional chinese medicine; the furriness of the tongue is associated with excess. The yellow coating is consistent with too much heat. This is not healthy. Coffee can cause the tongue coating to turn yellow. This is a sign of imbalance. His excessive use of energy drinks is unhealthy.

Energy : Energy drinks are intended to be commercialized only and not for human consumption. As you can see i'm against these drinks and, someone who abuses any drink even water it will definetly be harmful. I would like to give you and advise, to your boyfriend to stop drinking his energy drink if he wants to see his tongue back to its original shape and color . Energy for life, can be obtained from natural sources such as good eating habits, exercising, a good state of mind can derive more energy the 100 energy drinks! good luck in quitting !

Possibly: I am in agreement with the other doctors. The yellowish coloration could also be indicative of energy weakness involving the liver and gallbladder. Your boyfriewnd need to take a look at his life and see why he needs to drink 4-5 of those things ( i mean things , they are not so good for you) every day... Would suggest better diet and suplements.
