The : The pneumonia shot should be admininistered in the muscle, however mistakes can occur. The nurse may have injured a nerve while giving you the injection. You may need a special test called a nerve conduction study. Ask your doctor if he/she feels this is necessary. Also ask for a trial of medication for nerve pain. Neurontin (gabapentin) is a good choice. Best of luck.

Odd statement: The pneumonia shot is administered in the deltoid muscle outside the shoulder joint. There is no physical way that it could reach into your joint from that position since the bone blocks the way to it. It is a painful shot and the shoulder is often sore for days. If they hit a nerve it could cause longer term problems. You should call your doc and have it evaluated.
