Grapefruit : Grapefruit juice affects drug levels in the blood by partially blocking several important proteins responsible for removal of drugs from the body. It could significantly increase antidepressant sertraline (zoloft) or fluvoxamine (luvox) levels. Paxil (paroxetine), (paroxetine) however, is removed from the body primarily by a protein known as cyp2d6, which is not affected by grapefruit juice. Therefore, it is not likely that symptoms that you experienced were caused by interactions between grapefruit juice and paxil (paroxetine). It is possible that some other medications, foods or drinks could have caused the undesired symptoms. For example, excessive ingestion of caffeinated foods, drugs or beverages together with antidepressants such as Paxil (paroxetine) (also known as ssris) may increase anxiety and agitation. Discussing your symptoms with the prescribing physician could help to optimize your medication regimen and avoid drug-drug or drug-food interactions in the future.

Paxil: Grapefruit is ok with Paxil but don't mix with alcohol.
