What are the long term effects of b.p.d? my son 24yrs. was a premature 28week baby and developed b.p.d. from the ventilaters. he is short of breathe in the evenings. he has been very athletic his whole life with no real problems. why now?

Given : Given he is now 24 and has been athletic it seems his bpd was treated well. He will need to do full pulmonary function tests to assess underlying lung function. Asthma and bpd have been linked to each other in several studies. Current problem may or may not be linked to bpd.
