May be asthma: There are several causes for shortness of breath. Asthma is the most common cause. You need to see a pediatric pulmonologist (children's lung doctor). Your pediatrician can refer your child to a pediatric pulmonologist. With most private insurance, you can see a pediatric pulmonologist without referral from the primary pediatrician.

Sob: Have evaluated by a cardiologist to make sure he doesn't have a cardiac problem. If his heart is ok, see a pulmonologist to rule out asthma or exercise induced asthma.

Exercise induced: This sounds like exercise induced asthma. It can easily be treated but first there are certain tests to confirm this condition and the best doctor for this is a pulmonologist.
