Could i get a lung transplant for emphysema?

Yes: In fact emphysema/copd is the leading indication for lung transplant in the United States today. Typically patients with COPD are given a single lung but if there is high pressure in the lungs (pulm hypertension) a double lung can be done. One year survival rates are excellent (>90%) but five year survival falls to about 60%.

Yes: It depends on the severity of your emphysema. There are other options as well like lung volume reduction surgery that you may be a good candidate for. Either way you need to be evaluated by a team of doctors that specialize in treating this type of conditions. Your doctor can refer you to an appropriate lung specialist who can discuss all options with you.
