The : The concern I have is if the reshaping was done on natural tooth and enamel. If so, it's obviously irreversible damage to the enamel. It may have been done on an artificial surface like a bonded filling, crown or veneer. If it was done on a crown or veneer, repair isn't an option, you would need to have the restoration replaced. If it was done on enamel or a bonded filling, the simple fix would be to bond or re-bond a tooth colored filling or if you really wanted to invest in the shape, alignment and appearance, you can have crowns or veneers.

Dear : Dear concerned: it is unfortunate that you have had a bad dental experience. However, at this point you have to "do it right". There are many escellent general/family/cosmetic dentists, but as a consumer, it is very hard for you to judge who will give you the most appropriate opiinion and treatment, and you already have been "burned" once. Go to www.Gotoapro.Org and look up a prosthodontist in your area. The prosthodontist is the expert in cosmetic, restorative and implant dentistry and will be able to give you the proper options in your situation. This can be done only after a physical examination. Do not repeat your original mistake. Go to a specialist. Best of luck, dr. Zev kaufman.

The : The recourse for poorly done tooth shaping is to either reshape the teeth properly with direct bonding or consider an indirect /lab processed porcelain veneer. The fact that it looks ridiculous is a real shame but perhaps this was done as a futile attempt to save you some money. Obviously, impossible to tell unless could see the the condition before hand but it seems like at this stage you need to find a qualified dentist with some experience in cosmetic rehab to correct this case.

There : There are now superb bonding materials, such as filtek, made by 3m, which can easily be added to any tooth to change its shape. It has multiple colors, is very easy to apply by the dentist, and can correct almost any problem shape in a tooth. It should be protected, if applied to a biting edge, by a bite plate, so it wont be sheered off.

Bonding : Bonding or veneers is probably your best option now. Unfortunately, you sometimes get what you pay for.

Veneers: Veneers can help change size, shape, and color of teeth. I am sorry that you had a poor result. Sadly, problems like yours happen frequently when people try to go to discount offices. Healthcare is a service and not a commodity, you unfortunately will get what you pay for more often than not. Good luck!
