He : He could be dealing with a common cold, bronchitis, or even pneumonia. If he has fever and/or chills, and the productive cough is still present, then he needs to be evaluated by his doctor right away. He may need antibiotics, and other medications to help clear the mucous and help with the cough. If he is a smoker then this will definitely exacerbate the situation, so he should decrease smoking as much as possible if applicable. Please recommend that he go in to see his doctor. Best of luck.
