Medicine : Medicine is still an art, although the science of medicine has advanced quite a long road...There are over 140 types of arthritis and unfortunately is still not so simple to define a problem by a short description . Usually inflammatory arthritis last for more than six weeks and persist, they have a recognized pattern of presentation. Crystal induced arthritis generally is a recurrent type of arthritis that may begin with occasional crisis and those crises if not properly treated may last longer and recur more frequently. Infections give a typical arthritis that is related to an infectious agent or is a reaction to it, degenerative arthritis is a disease related in some ways to aging but it has a hereditary component and it may start at an early adult age, other types of arthritis are those related to deposition disease, auto inflammatory and autoimmune etiologies. On the other hand there are the localized syndromes, like bursitis and tendinitis and generalized syndromes, like the magnification of pain of fibromyalgia and the arthritis related to other diseases, like hormonal diseases or cancer. The best diagnosis would be the one a rheumatologist couldgive you.
