Some : Some possible reasons for things tasting salty are: a sinus infection, dehydration, diseases of the salivary glands, nutritional deficiencies, excessive alcohol use, certain medications or in rare cases; endocrine or neurologic problems. Here are some things you can try until the salty flavor goes away: avoid use of tobacco products. At least temporarily, don’t eat hot or spicy foods, and don’t drink coffee or soft drinks. Increase your intake of water. If you are drinking alcohol to excess - don't. If you have just started a new medication and think it might be the cause, talk to your doctor about changing. It the salty taste continues, check with your doctor, so that he or she can help to figure out the cause.
