A member asked:

I had a compound fracture in my right tibia last year. the swelling has returned, should i be concerned? i have been on my feet quite a bit lately and think this is the cause. when should i become concerned and go to a doctor?

Please : Please see your physician and have your leg rechecked. New swelling in an old fracture site might represent a new stress fracture, especially since you have been on your feet alot. Best wishes.

See your ortho: Compound "open" fracture carries a risk of infection. Infection can still occur a yr out from injury. You need to see your ortho doc for an eval.
