You : You haven't said anything about your age, gender, medical history, or overall state of health, so it's a little tough for me to narrow things down, but there are some things that would explain this. Given the snowfall in seattle over the past few days, have you maybe been doing some shoveling of snow or maybe some skiing or other vigorous physical activity? Could you have slipped while walking on the ice? Overuse of muscles or trauma might cause pain that wakes you up. A muscle cramp might also cause this type of localized pain. If you have a history of vascular disease, or are at risk for it (older age group, high cholesterol, smoker or diabetic) then this could represent a blocked blood vessel. Do you have ongoing pain? Numbness? Are your symptoms increased with exercise? If so, then you should be evaluated for compromised blood flow.
