Having : Having had a fish bone in my throat i know what you are feeling. The good news is that most of the time a bony foreign body in the throat scratches it, then passes on down, but leaves you feeling like something is still there. If the symptoms don't go away (or lessen) by the next day, it's worthwhile to have an ENT doctor examine you and look for the bone. In all my years, I have removed only a few fish bones but have seen many patients with the symptoms. If it can be confirmed that there is no foreign body, sometimes viscous xylocaine (lidocaine) will speed the egress of the symptoms. It should only be given with the suggestion of an md who has examined you.

Fish : Fish bones are very thin and sharp and may get stuck anywhere within the oral cavity, tonsils, back of your throat or slightly further down your throat as well as within the esophagus. If you feel the bone is still stuck in your throat, it is highly suggested to be seen by an ear nose and throat specialist sooner rather than later. Leaving the fish bone stuck in the mucosal lining of the throat can worsen the irritation and can cause a potential infection around the site of entry. You should not wait for it to dissolve if there is a suspicion of a fish bone stuck the best policy is to remove it.
